Dr. Xiaoxuan Li joined Secat as a Materials Engineer in June
2008 after his endeavor in materials science at the University
of Tennessee Space Institute as a research associate. He received
his PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering from the
University of Connecticut in 2005. Dr. Li has been working in
different fields in materials science and engineering, including
materials processing and micro/nanofabrication. His expertise
includes hands-on experience in materials science/processing
(corrosion and protection, laser surface engineering, rapid
prototyping, photo/electron beam lithography), advanced characterization
techniques (electron microscopy, XRD, Dual Beam FIB/SEM, mechanical
testing, phase/thermal analysis) and computer software applications
(AutoCAD and modeling). His research interests lie in materials
processing, failure analysis, coatings, micro/nanafabrication
and nanomaterials.
Dr. Li has published more than 27 papers in peer-reviewed
journals and conference proceedings, and he has more than
7 invited talks/conference presentations. His other academic
activities include receipt of Emerald Literati Network Awards
for Excellence: Highly Commended Award 2006 and Best Poster
Presentation at the 14th Annual SFF Symposium, Austin, TX
