Dr. Thomas W. Lester

Thomas W. Lester assumed the position of dean of engineering and professor of mechanical engineering at the University of Kentucky on July 1st, 1990. Prior to his current appointment, Dr. Lester served as professor and chairman of mechanical engineering at Louisiana State University, as professor of nuclear engineering at Kansas State University, as an experimental engineer in compressor development for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft at its Florida Test & Development Center, and as an engineer with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.
A native of Indiana, Dr. Lester received the bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering with highest distinction from Purdue University in 1970, and his masters and doctorate in the same discipline from Purdue in 1972 and 1974 respectively.
