Secat, Inc. DOE Project Review Meetings

The Secat reviews on the DOE sponsored projects were held at the Marriott Griffin Gate, Lexington KY on October 13, 2004. The meetings were well represented with representatives from all participating companies, national laboratories and the University of Kentucky with 25 participants in attendance. Wide-ranging discussions were held on the activities carried out in the last quarter, and work for the next quarter was laid out.

Projects reviewed were:

  • Advanced Scalable Clean Aluminum Melting Systems
  • Reduction of Oxidative Melt Loss of Aluminum and Its Alloys
  • Improving Energy Efficiency in Aluminum Melting

In addition, Paul Ridgway from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory presented a paper on Thickness Measurement by Laser Ultrasonics.

The next Secat review is planned for February 23, 2005.
