Secat, Inc. DOE Project Review Meetings

June 1, 2004 -- The Secat review on the DOE sponsored projects on Energy Efficiency and Ingot Cracking was held at the Marriott Griffin Gate, Lexington KY on June 01, 2004. The meetings were well represented with representatives from all participating companies, national laboratories and the University of Kentucky with 25 participants in attendance. Wide-ranging discussions were held on the activities carried out in the last quarter, and work for the next quarter was laid out.

Mary Wells, Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada made a special presentation on the research activities of the university in the field of ingot solidification and modeling.

The industry representatives also listened to a presentation on a DOE sponsored project for the development of new materials for heat exchangers and recuperators in an inter- industry project involving the Paper and Aluminum industries. The presenters were Peter Gorog of Weyerhaeuser, Ltd and James Keiser of Oak Ridge National Laboratory.

The next Secat review is planned for Oct 12, 2004.
