Secat, Inc. Invited to be Associate Member
of the Aluminum Association
07/01/2003
July 1, 2003 - The Aluminum
Association, the trade organization for the
Aluminum industry, and Secat, Inc., a research
and testing enterprise focused on the Aluminum
industry, have enjoyed a mutually beneficial
relationship since Secat’s conception
in 1999.
Both organizations are proud
to announce that Secat, Inc. is now an associate
member of the Aluminum Association. As an associate
member, Aluminum Association members will have
greater awareness of Secat’s research
and testing capabilities that can assist in
their businesses. In addition, Secat will be
able to work with the Aluminum Association closely
on technology and educational areas which will
benefit the entire aluminum industry.
The relationship between these
two organizations began in 1999, when the Aluminum
Association, with John Green as V.P. of Technology,
awarded a $12,000 grant to fund a workshop to
study the condition of research and development
within the aluminum industry. The findings of
this workshop led to the creation of Secat,
Inc., a collaboration between the Aluminum Industry,
the state and federal government and the University
of Kentucky.
Dr. Subodh Das, then Chair of
the Aluminum Association’s Technical Advisory
Committee, headed the workshop and continued
to lead the creation of Secat, Inc. eventually
becoming Secat President and CEO.
The Aluminum Association, along
with fifteen Aluminum companies, was one of
the founding members of Secat, Inc., providing
funding and advice on the establishment of the
research, development and testing firm.
Today, with the announcement
of Secat’s Associate Member status, the
Aluminum Association continues this supporting
relationship to the benefit of the Aluminum
industry.
The
Aluminum Association, based in Washington DC,
with offices in Detroit, MI, represents U.S.
and foreign-based primary producers of aluminum,
aluminum recyclers and producers of fabricated
products as well as suppliers to the industry.
Member companies operate almost 200 plants in
the United States and many conduct business
worldwide.
