Industry Training Guide Now on Secat Website
In our continuing effort to provide resources to the Aluminum industry, we have now posted listings of available training courses on our website.
PROCESS HEATING WORKSHOP HELD: Standing Room Only!
Secat offered this 8 hour workshop to it's member companies on June 2-3, 2003. 24 representatives from Aluminum Companies throughout Kentucky attended. Dr. Arvind Thekdi, instructor, has over 30 years of experience in design and development of furnaces used by all major industries. This one-day training course, developed by the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), includes an introduction to process heating and process heating equipment such as furnaces, melter, dryers, ovens, heaters, kilns, etc. used by the Aluminum industry.
Plans are underway to offer this class again in October, 2003. Please email us if you would like to be on the mailing list for the October class.

Imco Recycling, the world's third largest recycler of aluminum and zinc, and Secat, Inc. partner, has linked their website with Secat's Aluminum Answers service, providing IMCO site visitors the opportunity to access an information resource focused solely on the Aluminum industry.
Illinois Institute of Technology Partners with Secat

University of Missouri-Rolla (UMR) has established the Center for Friction Stir Processing and specializes in various areas of materials science, including extractive metallurgy, refractory research, and physical metallurgy. Dr. William Yin has joined
The Center for Aluminum Technology, working at the Secat labs,
effective July 1, 2003. Dr. Yin will provide a significant contribution
to both short term and long term research needs of the Aluminum

Randall Bowers, a University of Kentucky senior in Materials Engineering joined Secat on a part time basis in May, 2003. Randall will be graduating in December upon completion of his Materials Science degree with great potential to become a Secat employee permanently upon graduation.

and Materials Engineering, has been chosen as the 2003-2004
Secat Student Scholarship recipient. This scholarship provides
$15,000 over three years towards her educational expenses. [MORE...]
Charles Bynaker, a University of Kentucky student in Chemical and Materials Engineering and recipient of the Secat 2002-2003 Student Scholarship, has a summer internship position at Wise Alloys in Mussel Shoals, Alabama, where he will have hands-on experience in quality control, design of experiments and data analysis, and customer satisfaction responses. Wise Alloys is a partner company of Secat, Inc.
